Project exam: timed real-life and interview speaking

Project examexpert· about 1 hour· 6 steps· 60 min · pass 70%

The brief

Six speaking tasks in 60 minutes: a self-introduction, a call to the bank about a blocked card, a restaurant order with a complaint, "Tell me about yourself", a STAR story and a stand-up update. For each task you make short notes, record one take without stopping, listen back and tick only what is true.

Why it matters

Real calls and interviews give you no second take and no time to write a script. This exam checks that you can plan quickly, speak from notes and still sound clear, correct and polite, which is what interviewers, customers and managers judge you on.

Skills you practise

  • speaking from short notes
  • phone-call English and safety
  • polite requests and complaints
  • interview answers
  • stand-up updates

You need

  • A phone with a voice recorder app
  • A quiet room for 60 minutes
  • A timer
