CSV, Excel and JSON Converter

Convert CSV to Excel (.xlsx) or JSON, Excel to CSV or JSON, and JSON to CSV or Excel. The separator is found for you, with a header row option and a preview. Nothing is uploaded.

Private · on device. Runs in your browser: your file is not uploaded. No sign-up.

CSV, TSV, Excel .xlsx or JSON
Nothing is uploaded. Values are kept exactly: codes like 007 keep their zeros, and text starting with = stays text. Excel files are read as Excel shows them (formula results, dates as 2024-05-06); colours and formatting are not carried over.

How to convert CSV, Excel and JSON

  1. Choose a CSV, Excel or JSON file, or paste CSV or JSON text.
  2. Check the preview, then choose Excel, CSV or JSON and whether the first row is the header.
  3. Press Convert and download the file.

To edit the table first, open it in the online spreadsheet. To check or tidy JSON, use the JSON formatter.

Frequently asked questions

Is my data uploaded?

No. The file is read and converted inside this browser tab, which matters for customer lists and accounts.

My CSV uses semicolons. Will it work?

Yes. The separator (comma, semicolon, tab or |) is worked out from the first lines and shown, and you can change it if it guessed wrong. CSV files saved by Excel in many European countries use semicolons.

Will numbers like PIN codes lose their leading zeros?

No. Only plain numbers (12.5, -3, 110001) become numbers in Excel and JSON. Codes such as 007 or 011001, numbers longer than 15 digits and phone numbers with a + stay text exactly as they were.

What JSON does it make and read?

It makes a list of objects, one per row, named by the header row. It reads a list of objects (nested objects become columns like address.city), a list of lists, a single object, or an API response holding one list, such as {"data": [...]}.

What happens to formulas and formatting in Excel files?

The values Excel shows are converted: formula results, and dates as 2024-05-06. Colours, fonts and merged cells are not carried over, because CSV and JSON have no place for them.
