Join Photo and Signature in One Image

Put your photo and signature into one JPG, stacked or side by side, at exam sizes and under the KB limit your form sets. The signature is cleaned to white.

2. Your signature

Check what your form wants first. Most exams (SSC, IBPS, UPSC, NEET) ask for the photo and the signature as two separate uploads; use this only where a form asks for both in one picture. The signature is cleaned to white paper and dark ink, as in the signature tool.

How to make a photo-and-signature image

  1. Choose a recent passport-style photo on a plain light background.
  2. Sign in black or dark blue ink on plain white paper and photograph it in good light.
  3. Pick stacked or side by side, and the sizes your form gives (or a preset).
  4. Type the KB limit, and download the JPG.

Separate uploads are more common

If your form has two upload boxes, one for the photo and one for the signature, do not use a combined image: it will be rejected or squashed. Make each one on its own with the photo maker and the signature tool, which have the exact presets for SSC, IBPS, UPSC and NEET.

Common reasons for rejection

  • The file is over the KB limit, or under the minimum.
  • The signature is faint, on lined paper, or written in capital letters.
  • The photo is old, has a busy background or is a selfie at arm's length.

Frequently asked questions

Which forms want the photo and signature in one image?

Some state recruitment boards, university and school admission forms, scholarship portals and bank or co-operative society forms ask for a single image with the photograph above the signature. The big national exams do not: SSC, IBPS, SBI, UPSC and NTA (NEET, JEE) ask for the photo and signature as separate uploads. Always follow the notification for your form.

What sizes do the presets use?

They use the separate photo and signature sizes the exam bodies publish, as kept in The Daily Toolbox's requirements database: SSC JPEG, 20–50 KB, 3.5 × 4.5 cm (413 × 531 px) for the photo and 6.0 × 2.0 cm for the signature (Staff Selection Commission, https://ssc.gov.in/); IBPS and SBI JPEG, 20–50 KB, 200 × 230 px for the photo and 140 × 60 px for the signature (Institute of Banking Personnel Selection, https://www.ibps.in/). Last checked 2026-08-16. For a combined image, set the width, height and KB limit your form states.

How is the KB limit met?

The joined picture goes through the same exact-size engine as the image compressor: it searches for the highest JPG quality that fits under your maximum, without changing the dimensions. If your form also has a minimum and the picture is too simple to reach it, the file is padded with a metadata block that does not change a single pixel.

My signature photo has a grey background. Will that show?

No. The signature is cleaned the same way as in the signature tool: uneven lighting is flattened, the paper becomes pure white, the ink becomes dark, and the picture is cropped to the strokes before it is placed under the photo.

Is the photo cropped?

Yes, to the photo box’s shape, keeping more of the top of the picture where the face is. For full control, crop it first with the passport photo maker or the crop tool, then join it here.

Are my photo and signature uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser. A photo and a signature together are exactly what someone would need to impersonate you on a form, so they should not be handed to a website’s server.
