How to edit a PDF here

  1. Choose your PDF. Each page appears with its real text laid over it.
  2. With Edit text selected, click any line and type. The words you type are shown in the document's own font, size and colour while you edit, so you see the result before you save.
  3. Use Add text, White-out, Highlight or Image for anything new. Drag to move, pull the corner to resize.
  4. Press Save PDF. The preview shows the finished pages before you download.

Why fonts are the hard part

Most PDFs carry only the letters they actually use, a practice called subsetting. If a heading says "Invoice", the file may hold just I, n, v, o, i, c and e. Type "Receipt" and there is no R, p or t to draw with. Many online editors quietly swap the whole line to Arial. This one checks every letter first, keeps the original font whenever it can, and lists the lines where it could not.

Good to know

  • Password-protected PDFs need the password removed first.
  • Scanned pages: press Make the text editable (or the OCR button in the toolbar), then click any line. To only make a scan searchable without editing it, use OCR PDF.
  • To add a signature rather than text, Sign PDF places it at the right size.

Frequently asked questions

Will my edited text look the same as the original?

As close as the PDF allows. The editor first tries to reuse the font embedded in your document. If that font holds every letter you typed, the new words are drawn with it, at the same size and colour. If the document only carries the letters it originally used (a "subset"), the closest standard font is used instead, and the editor tells you which lines were affected.

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?

No. The PDF is opened, edited and saved inside this browser tab. There is no server that receives it, which is why the editor keeps working with your internet switched off once the page has loaded.

Can I edit a scanned PDF?

Yes. When a page is a scan, the editor offers "Make the text editable": it reads the page with OCR (pick the language, including every Indian script), and each line becomes clickable. When you change a line, only the old letters are removed from the scan, so the paper and nearby lines stay, and your words go in with the closest standard font at the same size and colour.

Does editing remove the original words?

The old words are covered with the page background and the new words are drawn on top, which is what you see and what prints. The original characters can remain in the file underneath, so for anything sensitive (hiding a number, for example) flatten the PDF to images afterwards with PDF to JPG and Image to PDF.

What else can I add?

New text in any of the document fonts or standard fonts, images such as a logo or stamp, highlights, and white-out boxes. Everything you add can be moved and resized, and Undo works for every step.
