The short version

The file tools process your files in your browser. When you choose a PDF, picture, video, document or statement, the work is done by code running on your own computer or phone. The file, its name, the text in it, previews and the files you download are not sent to our servers, and they are not passed to advertising, analytics or error-reporting services.

Calculators work the same way: the figures you type are computed on your device and not recorded. There are no accounts and no sign-up.

Files you process

A file you open is held in your browser's memory while the page is open and is discarded when you close or reload it. Passwords for protected PDFs are used by your browser to open the file and are not sent anywhere.

Files up to 300 MB are accepted. Very large files can still be too much for a phone's memory; the tool then says so. Program files and other kinds a tool cannot use are refused before they are read.

What the site downloads to your device

Some tools need software that is too large to load with every page. It is downloaded the first time you use the tool:

  • PDF, OCR, video and photo engines are served from this site. The OCR language data is also served from this site.
  • The AI tools (background remover, image upscaler, audio to text, text to speech) download their model from Hugging Face, and the passport photo tool downloads a small face-detection model from Google's MediaPipe storage. These are ordinary downloads: like any website you visit, those servers see your IP address and browser, but nothing about your files is sent to them. The tool shows the size before anything is downloaded.
  • The HTML to PDF tool can, if you switch on "Load pictures from the web", fetch pictures that your HTML links to from the websites that host them. It is off by default.

After a tool has loaded, most file tools keep working with the internet switched off; an AI tool needs its model downloaded once first.

What is kept on your device

  • Your theme choice and a short "recently used" list of tools, in your browser's local storage.
  • The resume builder saves your draft in this browser so it survives a reload; "Start over" deletes it. The invoice generator remembers your business details only if you tick "Remember my business details on this device".
  • When you pass a file from one tool to another, it is held in your browser's storage until the next tool opens it, and for at most 10 minutes.

You can remove all of this at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.

Information we collect

We do not ask for or store:

  • Names, email addresses or account details: there are no accounts
  • Your files, the text in them, or anything made from them
  • The figures you enter into calculators
  • Payment information: the tools are free

Like any website, our hosting provider (Vercel) receives the technical details of each page request, such as your IP address, the page address and your browser, and may keep them in short-term logs for security and operations. Your files are never part of these requests.

Analytics

This site does not currently use any analytics service. If we add one, it will count page views only, it will not be loaded on pages where you open files, and this policy will be updated first.

Advertising

This site shows ads from Google AdSense on information pages such as guides, calculators and tool listings. Ads and the AdSense code are never loaded on pages where you open or process files.

Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent through a Google-certified consent message before personalised ads are shown. You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings or opt out of some third-party vendors' cookies at aboutads.info. See also how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Cookies

The tools do not use cookies. Google may set advertising cookies on the pages that show ads, as described above.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Your rights

Because we do not collect personal data through the tools, there is generally nothing for us to disclose, correct or delete. If you are in the EEA, the UK or California and have a question about your rights, please get in touch.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top will be updated, and material changes will be described on this page.
