KB, MB and upload limits
Exam and job portals set strict limits for photos and signatures, often in KB. The trouble is that "KB" means 1,000 bytes to many portals and 1,024 bytes to Windows. A signature Windows shows as 49 KB is 50,176 bytes, which a 50 KB (50,000-byte) limit rejects. Choose kB or KiB above to see both, and use the compress image tool or the PDF compressor to get under a limit with a margin.
Popular conversions
- cm to feet: Feet = cm ÷ 30.48, and for feet-and-inches divide by 2.54 to get inches, then take whole feet of 12 inches.
- Feet to cm: cm = (feet × 12 + inches) × 2.54.
- kg to lbs: Pounds = kg × 2.20462262, from the exact definition 1 lb = 0.45359237 kg.
- lbs to kg: kg = lb × 0.45359237 (exact).
- Inches to cm: cm = inches × 2.54, exactly.
- cm to inches: Inches = cm ÷ 2.54, because an inch is exactly 2.54 cm.
- MB to KB: 1 MB = 1,000 KB in the decimal (SI) units that storage makers and most upload portals use, and 1 MiB = 1,024 KiB in the binary units Windows labels “MB” and “KB”.
- KB to MB: MB = KB ÷ 1,000 in decimal units and MiB = KiB ÷ 1,024 in binary units.
- Celsius to Fahrenheit: °F = °C × 9/5 + 32.
- Fahrenheit to Celsius: °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9.
