Remove Objects from Photos with AI

Paint over a person, a wire, a logo, text or a mark and AI fills the space with what belongs there, as if it was never in the photo. Runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

Private · on device. Runs in your browser: your file is not uploaded. No sign-up.

JPG, PNG, WebP or iPhone HEIC
Your photo is not uploaded. The AI model (MI-GAN, 28 MB, MIT licence) is downloaded once and runs in this browser tab. It fills the area with what fits around it: plain backgrounds, sky, walls and floors work best.

How to remove an object from a photo

  1. Choose the photo.
  2. Paint over what you want gone with your finger or the mouse. Pick a bigger brush for large things.
  3. Press Remove and fill in. The first time, the AI model downloads; after that it starts at once.
  4. Paint again over anything left, then download the photo as JPG or PNG.

Good for

  • Strangers and tourists in the background of a travel photo.
  • Power lines, poles and signs across a sky.
  • Date stamps, watermarks you have the right to remove, and text on a picture.
  • Spots, stains and small marks on a product photo.

To take away the whole background instead, use the background remover. To hide faces or number plates, blur faces.

Frequently asked questions

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The AI model is downloaded to your browser once (28 MB) and the photo is changed inside this tab. Nothing about it is sent anywhere.

What does it remove best?

Things in front of a background that repeats or is plain: people in the distance, wires, poles, litter, small logos, date stamps, text and spots. A large object in front of a detailed background is filled with a good guess, which may need a second pass.

How do I get a cleaner result?

Paint a little past the edge of the object, including its shadow. Remove big objects in pieces, and press Remove again over any part that still shows. Undo goes back one step.

Will the photo lose quality?

Only the painted area is changed; every other pixel stays as it was. Photos up to 2400 pixels on the long side are worked on at full size.
