Frequently asked questions

Is my text sent to a server?

Not by this site. In Google Chrome on a computer the browser’s own translator works on your device. In other browsers, English ↔ Hindi uses a small translation model that is downloaded once and runs on your device.

How do I know how to pronounce the translation?

Press Hear it to listen (or Slowly). For Hindi, the translation is also written in English letters, for example “aap kaise hain”.

Why is there no voice for my language?

The voice comes from your phone or computer. Add the language in its speech settings (Text-to-speech on Android, Spoken content on iPhone, Speech on Windows).

Which languages work in which browser?

English ↔ Hindi works in any modern browser. Chrome 138 or newer on a computer translates between many more languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam and Urdu.

Is the translation perfect?

No machine translation is. It is good for everyday sentences; for legal, medical or official papers, ask a person who knows both languages.
