Project exam: a timed coding round
Project examexpert· about 1.5 hours· 7 steps· 90 min · pass 60%
The brief
In 90 minutes, solve seven problems like a campus placement online test: hashing, a stack, a sliding window, a binary search tree, binary search on the answer, topological sort and dynamic programming. Every problem is checked with normal cases, edge cases and a large input.
Why it matters
Most product companies and many service companies start hiring with a timed online coding test, and the problems are these patterns in Indian settings. Practising under a clock, without hints, is the best preparation for that round and for live interviews.
Skills you practise
- hash sets
- stacks
- variable sliding window
- binary search trees
- binary search on the answer
- topological sort
- dynamic programming
What you will have at the end
round.py: seven solved coding-round problems, each with its time and space complexity in a comment.
How it is marked (rubric, 100 points)
| Problems solvedEvery check passes, including the edge cases and the large inputs. | 60 |
|---|---|
| Efficient solutionsEach solution meets the target complexity: no O(n²) where O(n) is asked. | 20 |
| Readable codeClear names and small helper functions, as you would write in an interview. | 10 |

Rules: a project exam
- The exam opens full screen. Stay on this page until you hand it in.
- Opening another tab or app, or leaving full screen, counts as one time away. After 3 times the exam ends.
- No copy or paste during the exam.
- No hints and no answers. You can run your code, but the checks run only when you hand in.
- Every task is checked automatically when you hand in, or when the time is up.
- You see which tasks passed at the end. You can take it again.
