Project exam: CCNA practice

Project examexpert· about 1.5 hours· 8 steps· 90 min · pass 70%

The brief

A timed, hands-on practice exam in the style of the CCNA 200-301: four calculation tasks in Python (subnetting, VLSM, route selection and EUI-64) and four configuration tasks in Packet Tracer for a logistics company in Chennai (VLANs and a trunk, OSPF, PAT and SSH). You have 90 minutes; no hints or answers are shown until you hand it in.

Why it matters

The CCNA tests both speed with addresses and the ability to configure and verify real devices, and network job interviews in India often include a live subnetting question and a Packet Tracer task. Practising both against the clock shows you which topics need more work before you book the exam.

Skills you practise

  • subnetting
  • VLSM
  • longest prefix match, administrative distance and metric
  • EUI-64
  • VLANs and trunks
  • OSPF
  • PAT
  • SSH

You need

  • Cisco Packet Tracer (free with a Cisco Networking Academy account)
  • The exam topology: SW1 (2960), R1 and R2 (2911), an ISP router (2911) with a web server, and PCs in SALES, ACCOUNTS and the warehouse LAN
  • 90 minutes without interruptions

What you will have at the end

Your exam score, exam.py with four working calculations, and the Packet Tracer file (ccna-practice.pkt) with VLANs, a trunk, OSPF, PAT and SSH configured and verified.

Rules: a project exam

  • Do each task on your own machine, then paste the command output into its box here.
  • Work alone, without notes or a search engine, as in the real exam.
  • No hints and no answers. You can run your code, but the checks run only when you hand in.
  • Every task is checked automatically when you hand in, or when the time is up.
  • You see which tasks passed at the end. You can take it again.
