Look before you open
A QR code is just text, and you cannot read it by eye. Phone cameras often jump straight to the link. This scanner shows you exactly what the code holds first: the full address, the site it really goes to, the UPI payee and amount, or the Wi-Fi network and password.
Warnings it gives
- Links that are not secure (http rather than https).
- Addresses that hide the real site behind an @, use look-alike letters, or go to a bare number address.
- Links that download an app or program.
- UPI payment codes, with a reminder that scanning is for paying, never receiving.
Camera or picture
Use the camera to scan a code in front of you, or pick a photo or screenshot, useful for a code someone sent on WhatsApp. To make a code, use the QR code generator.
