Frequently asked questions

How do I type Hindi without a Hindi keyboard?

Leave "Type in English letters, get Hindi" on and type the words as they sound: namaste becomes नमस्ते and dhanyavaad becomes धन्यवाद. Write long sounds with a double letter (aa, ee, oo): shubh deepaavalee becomes शुभ दीपावली. The Hindi appears as you type, so you can see and correct it.

Can I paste Hindi text?

Yes. Turn the English-letters option off and paste or type Hindi directly, including from the Hindi typing tool.

Which fonts are there?

Noto Sans and Noto Serif Devanagari, Hind, Kalam (handwritten) and Tiro Devanagari Hindi. All are free fonts that draw every Hindi letter and matra correctly.
