Remove EXIF and Location from Photos

See what a photo says about you (camera, date, software and the GPS location where it was taken) and remove it all before you share it. Several photos at once. Nothing is uploaded.

Private · on device. Runs in your browser: your file is not uploaded. No sign-up.

JPG, PNG, WebP or iPhone HEIC; several at once
Your photos are not uploaded. They are read and cleaned in this browser tab. Most phones save the GPS position in every photo unless location is turned off for the camera. WhatsApp and most social apps remove it when they compress a photo, but email, cloud links, “send as document” and USB copies keep it.

How to use it

  1. Choose one or more photos.
  2. See what each one carries: location, camera, date and more.
  3. Press Remove and download. Several photos come in one ZIP.

Good for

  • Photos of your home, children or car before posting them.
  • Selling something online without showing where you live.
  • Sending photos as files or documents.

To hide faces or a number plate too, use blur faces.

Frequently asked questions

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The photo is read and cleaned inside this browser tab, so its location never leaves your device.

What does EXIF show about me?

Most phone photos store the phone model, the date and time, and the GPS position where the photo was taken, often to within a few metres. Some also store the owner name, serial numbers and a small preview of the photo.

Does removing it lower the quality?

Not for JPG, PNG or WebP: the picture data is copied exactly as it was, and only the hidden details are left out. A photo the camera saved sideways is turned the right way up and saved again at high quality, so it still shows correctly.

Do WhatsApp and Instagram remove it already?

Most social apps remove the location from photos they compress. Files sent as documents, by email, in cloud links or copied by cable keep everything, so clean them first.

Can I stop my phone adding the location?

Yes. Turn off location access for the camera app in your phone settings. Photos already taken keep theirs until you remove it.
