PDF Under 1 MB
Your file is processed on your device, nothing is uploaded
Make your file fit
The compressors linked below open already set to this size limit and bring your file under it; the other rules are yours to check. Nothing is uploaded, the file is processed on your device.
This is a document requirement rather than a photo one. Use the PDF compressor with a target of 1 MB, or the image compressor if you are uploading a photo rather than a PDF.

Every rule
- PDF under 1 MB.
- Text must remain legible after compression.
- Keep pages in the correct order and orientation.
What goes wrong
The rejections people actually hit with this requirement.
A scanned PDF is 12 MB.
Scans are images wrapped in a PDF. Downsampling the page images is what actually reduces the size, that is what our PDF compressor does.
Text became unreadable after compressing.
Aim for the largest file that still fits, not the smallest possible. Our compressor targets just under the limit deliberately.
